Early Life[edit | edit source]

Mahlyrrá Sanya Maeryth was the birth name of ‘Sanya Crowe’, and a daughter of Karlîne and Kaito Maeryth in the cold isle of Hoarfrost. Along with her, Teddy Maeryth was born moments after Mahlyrrá as her identical twin sister. They lived on Tyrin with happy hopes and high beliefs that one day they would be able to travel to the kingdom of Courelym- ruled by Queen Rinnian Rosel. Courelym was known for founder, Selune.

While the family was never given much in life, they were given happiness and that was all that mattered to them. Mahlyrrá wasn’t given much of a chance to learn from her parents from birth to the age of five, but she was able to grasp the idea of archery and sewing. Her parents never taught her common, as her family only knew the language of the elves of the moon and stars- Ecliptic Elven.

Mahlyrrá and Teddy were blessed with the happiness of a childhood until the age of five, when Karlîne and Kaito were cursed with a sickness that would eventually kill them. Unfortunately, Karlîne nor Kaito knew of any healers and didn’t believe in magic. They tried to find any townspeople who might be healers, and had heard of Serena Rembulan, but never contacted her. Mahlyrrá and Teddy were too young to encourage them to see one of the greater healers- whether that be South, Serena or Sairyn. In a matter of weeks, Kaito and Karlîne died.

Before their deaths, Kaito and Karlîne hired someone to take the twins to Amaryllis, as there was an orphanage there that might just take in the children. Mahlyrrá grew more and more rebellious while Teddy kept her stable, happy state. They spent only a matter of months in the orphanage before they quickly ran away on the day before their birthdays.

Mahlyrrá and Teddy lived in the forests from ages six to ten. While most children would starve to death in the forests at such young of ages, these two did not. They were strong and had hearts of iron. Teddy and Mahlyrrá hunted and fed themselves. Some nights were filled with terror and fear of being found or eaten by some sort of monstrous creature. The nights were filled with howls and screams, but they made it through and were able to see the light each day when the sun rose.

They spent years in the forests, until the day came that they had to leave the Medium to head to the South. They had difficulty fighting the drought out there own their own, so they finally snuck onto a boat that would lead them to Courelym.

There, they stole from the merchants and picked the farmer’s fields for whatever they could get. The two worked together to survive. Finally, they left to the South with the knowledge that they were leaving their parents, and past, behind. It was hopefully to be a new start; a safer start is what Mahlyrrá dreamed of.

Mahlyrrá and Teddy were finally freed from the crowded ships when the three months it took to get from the Medium to the South were up. Mahlyrrá and Teddy stayed away from Ayrithien for the most part, because of all the weird occurrences happening around it. They didn’t want anything to do with Queen Eriene, and when the time came, they didn’t want anything to do with King Iyfer. Mahlyrra knew any of the rulers were bad news and just there to cause trouble.

The twins stayed in Brinecross, and finally, when hamlets were started they headed to Synigade. They continued to play pranks and steal from the merchants that were to pass. They finally were able to make some money when they started running a bar and held drinking contests. Things were going up, even though they were so young and already on their own.

Synigade slowly became more and more deserted and the twins were losing the ability to make any profit. They left for the most populated hamlet- Goodwick. They didn’t find any way to make money there, and decided to have fun and joke around with the townspeople instead.

Maybe it was meant for the good of the two, or maybe the bad with the events yet to come- but the twins met a couple while they were jumping around on the haystacks. Feitor and Elizabeth Crowe were talking with some other person in Goodwick, and the two immediately began to play tricks on Elizabeth and Feitor. After Elizabeth being thoroughly annoyed, Feitor handed the two an apple as they were clearly starving. They both quickly ate up the apple and Mahlyrrá looked to Teddy, and despite their trust issues they had with others, they knew these might be the people to be their caretakers. Maybe. It was just a hope, a thought that they could have another chance at family.

Months passed, and Feitor, Elizabeth and the twins grew closer. Feitor finally told the twins he would adopt them when he and Elizabeth were married. It was a quick, haste decision on both sides, but Mahlyrrá and Teddy accepted. They were going to be happy again.

While the wedding arrangements were planned and the wedding actually occurred, plans of creating their own settlement on an island South of the main island of the South. Mahlyrrá and Teddy were hesitant to move at first because it was before they were adopted, but they eventually accepted. They had a difficult time adjusting to the climate as they were Ecliptic Elves from the cold Hoarfrost Isles and now they were moving to a savanna biome.

Around this time, Malicron and the Black Corsairs had begun to appear again. And they appeared close to Samatal when they heard of its existence. Mahlyrrá, Teddy, Elizabeth and Feitor were all living a happy life for several months on Samatal and enjoying being a family. Elizabeth didn’t hate the twins and had truly started to love them like her own. Malicron came to Samatal and threatened to kill all of them, and the citizens, if they did not supply his ships with food. They didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, and Mahlyrrá and Teddy were terrified of what Malicron might do (especially after he threatened to turn them into slaves on the main ship, The Leviathan).

They tried to ignore the existence of Malicron, but it was harder each day. He put a Black Corsair on watch over Samatal, Vaako Rin. Mahlyrrá, now and for a long time going by Sanya Crowe, was afraid of what terrible, cruel things he might inflict upon her family. This is the time when she began to start training with daggers and bows again. She also learned how to heal from Sairyn Cayce, in case anyone were to get hurt during this time. The only person who was extremely hurt was Tyris who was stabbed in the eye and Maxine who was taken, and never to be seen from when she was taken for five years.

As time continued on in Samatal, Vaako, the townspeople and Mahlyrra’s family worked together plan against Malicron and eventually kill him. Mahlyrrá wasn’t of much help herself, but she was able to sneak in and eavesdrop on the plans. Even with time, the plans were never fully carried out.

Queen Alijol of Ayrithien, daughter of King Iyfer, came to Feitor and the family. While many thought Feitor took the crown from Alijol, Alijol actually gave the family the right to rule over Ayrithien until the forces of Malicron were dealt with. Teddy had disappeared for months on end now, but Mahlyrrá followed her parents to Ayrithien and there became ‘Princess of Ayrithien’ while Feitor and Elizabeth were King and Queen.

She hated those days more than anything, because she hated being treated like royalty. As she grew older, she slowly began to see more and more each day how Feitor was becoming more corrupt from the royalty. Whether it was stressing him or the power, she did not know. Before her eyes, she saw her family slowly fall apart- Teddy missing and Feitor, in her eyes, being corrupted.

She grew close to Gerard Blaise Galeron who was a knight for House Crowe. There wasn’t anyone else for her to talk to, really, so she always went to him. He was her only friend with Teddy gone.

The days went by slowly, until one day in the barracks it was clear that the guards who used to work for Alijol were planning to rebel against Feitor and attempt to kill him. Feitor and his loyal guards went down to the barracks to find out what was going on, and Mahlyrrá, now going by Sanya, followed. She kept her bow that she had practiced for years upon years tightly in her hand and a quiver loaded with deadly arrows over her shoulder.

Moments went by quickly, and before Sanya knew it, people were fighting. She had her bow raised to a position to where she could slide an arrow into it, and she did. The fighting continued around her until she screamed out how she would kill Alijol if it continued. No one listened. Sanya aimed her bow for Alijol and the head of the guards rebelling against Feitor headed over to her to guard her. Sanya realized Alijol’s innocence in this attack, as it wasn’t her who planned it. She then took in a deep breath and aimed for the head of the attack. Then shot. The arrow went into his eye and out the back of his head. The fighting stopped from there as the rebelling guards realized their friend was in great danger. Sanya immediately began to shake so hard it was nearly impossible to cry. She heard his screams of pain, and she knew that even if they tried to save that man, they would fail. He was going to die.

Screaming, chatting, and shouts erupted around Sanya as she fell to the ground in tears. She was taken back to the palace quickly by Gerard, but she was having a difficult time walking and was practically dragged all the way back. Sanya wanted to be someone known to never kill a single person in her entire life, however, the day she killed that guard was the day she changed who she was completely and grew past her child ways.

Three weeks after, the pain didn’t stop. There was supposed to be a lovely tournament. Sanya used to hate watching people fight each other brutally in an arena, but now it didn’t matter to her as much. She felt like a monster herself, and didn’t fear seeing people dying. It was beginning to happen more and more around her. While the tournament continued on, the speaker began to cough frequently. Sanya watched him closely, and moments later Edrick Starok, who was standing near Sanya, spoke of a letter from his brother. The Grey Plague was breaking out again, and it had started in Brinecross.

The speaker began to cough more and more, and then his face slowly turned .. Lifeless and a little grey. He twitched, again, again, and then it broke out. Chaos. People from the Kingdom of Brinecross came running into Ayrithien begging for help and crying of the terrible things they had seen. Quickly, Elizabeth and Sanya were escorted away by one of the guards. However, they had slight difficulty getting there with everyone rushing to the ships. Elizabeth and Sanya were more worried to find Feitor as everyone pleaded to get onboard the ships. Grey Walkers began to attack from behind and pull people back- ripping and eating at their flesh.

In instants, there was blood splatter nearly everywhere. Moments later, a loud boom went off. The Ayrithien Palace had been blown up. Sanya watched as her home was burned to bits and the people were killed all around. Too many deaths. Too many innocents died. Sanya and Elizabeth were finally able to get onto one of the ships, and when they did, Malicron came pushing through the people to try to get onboard. He started screaming where the ‘Crowes’ were, and where ‘King Feitor Crowe’ was. He was planning on killing Feitor. Without second thought, townspeople pulled Sanya and Elizabeth below deck as the chaos continued to play out around them. Sanya couldn’t help but begin to hyperventilate from the stress as she prayed repetitively for her father. When the townspeople went back on deck, Sanya followed and saw her father and Malicron face to face, preparing for a fight. She quickly drew one of her hidden daggers and prepared to throw. But there was no point in throwing it as one of Malicron’s Corsairs stabbed Malicron in the back. Sanya threw her dagger at the head of Malicron then along with the other people throwing random things at him until he fell into the waters, dead.
